[Daily post from itzbig] In cutting HR costs, don’t cut out graciousness
If you remember their needs, especially regarding communication and follow-up, placing those candidates and keeping unplaced candidates in your network should be a breeze. If you forget to treat them graciously, you better start cutting your costs now.
The Recruiting Edge: “Qualified Referral” or “Potential Candidate”?
“I don’t care what you call it as long as you recognize the amount of great time it takes to ‘dig out’ these individuals and the great value they represent on the front end of any search.”
“According to a recent poll of colleges and universities conducted by National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), employers have revised their earlier hiring projections up from 17.4 percent to 19.2 percent, meaning that employers plan to hire nearly 20 percent more new college graduates in 2006-7 than they did in 2005-6.”
Employment Digest: Putting a face to a resume
“The job search has come a long way since the days of printing resumes on high-quality, linen paper and stuffing them in matching envelopes. Employers typically accept electronic versions of traditional resumes these days — many now require them — while incorporating their own research of applicants’ social-networking personal profiles.”
TIME: Career Success Comes Down to “Great People Decisions”
“CEOs love to say that great people make great organizations. Funny, then, that so many managers and others in a position to hire and promote know so very little about making great people decisions.”
